schools to have long winter vacation
The Kolkata Government on Wednesday ordered closure of all schools in the city from December 26 to January 15 to ensure that students do not suffer due to dipping temperature and cold condition.
A senior official of the Education Department said the order was applicable to both government and private schools.
The decision was taken after the government received large number of requests from parents and school authorities demanding closure of the schools in view of the extreme cold condition, he said.
“We have issued the order to ensure that school children do not suffer due to extreme weather condition,” the official added. -- PTI
